Fergus Steps Out

Presented by Lung Ha Theatre Company

The year is 2030.

Edinburgh is a place where everything goes according to plan and the unexpected does not exist. Buses run on time, lateness is unknown and everyone is polite.

But a glitch in the system is causing the machinery in the Hub – the control centre of Edinburgh – to malfunction. A stranger has appeared on the streets. A girl who does not walk, but skips. She claims to live beyond the wall on the forbidden Arthur’s Seat.

Who is she? What message does she bring? and what effect will she has on the eagerly awaited official opening of the Scottish Parliament…

Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh: 13 – 15 May 2004

Reviews

“It’s a cheerful concept, in other words, firmly rooted in Edinburgh’s proud popular tradition of robust civic scepticism; and it’s given every chance to flourish in this eloquent production, which feature a cast of 30, an impressive electronic score by Brian Cope, and a set by Arabella Harvey, with lighting by Graham Sutherland – that finally opens out into a spectacular nursery-school paradise vision of 21st-century Edinburgh.”
