Andrew Gardiner is a theatre performer and contemporary dancer, dramaturg, rehearsal director and guest lecturer. He has 17 years of professional experience across stage, opera, and screen.
As the Artistic Director of Society of Strays CIC, he works as a director, choreographer, and dramaturg, specialising in ambitious, socially engaged performance co-created with local communities.
He has collaborated extensively with leading dance and theatre makers, including 15-year creative collaborations with Curious Seed. His performance credits include work with Protein Dance, Riccardo Buscarini, Southpaw, Bgroup, ZoieLogic Dance Theatre, Jamie Fletcher Company, Simon McBurney, Dutch National Opera, New Art Club, and Anatomical.
Andrew’s dramaturgical credits include Rendez-vous Dance The Monocle and What Songs May do, Zoielogic Dance Theatres Ride, Sleuth and Heist and Pelican Theatres Kylie Jenner’s Private Jet.
His experience also spans major ceremonies and motion pictures, with notable credits including the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony (2014), the Rugby League World Cup Opening Ceremony (2013), and films such as 28 Years Later, Tom & Jerry, and How to Train Your Dragon 2.
Andrew holds honours degrees in Theatre and Contemporary Dance, alongside a PGDip with Distinction from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. In addition to his artistic practice, he is a qualified personal trainer, project manager, and a committed mental health advocate.
