I’m Me Lead Artist Gavin Yule, Project Facilitator Ryan Duncan and ‘Voice’ cycle participants Amy, Keith, Morgan and Nicky.
For the past 2 years, Lung Ha has been one of 6 disability arts companies taking part in I’m Me, a research project being run in collaboration between the York St John University Institute for Social Justice and Mind the Gap.
The project will culminate with the I’m Me Festival taking place at York St University on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th June – full details can be found here: https://www.yorksj.ac.uk/research/institute-for-social-justice/research-clusters/neurodiversity-and-learning-disabilities/im-me/im-me-festival/
We are delighted to be presenting 2 creative responses as part of this Festival:
Listen | Hear, a short documentary showing our explorations of the I’m Me ‘Voice’ cycle;

&
Me First, a short two-hander live performance piece exploring the barriers someone may face when trying to make their voice heard, especially those with disabilities or learning disabilities.

We look forward to joining our peers at About Face, Confidance, Hijinx, Open Theatre and Under the Stars to celebrate identity, representation and voice through performances and thought-provoking exhibitions created by learning disabled and autistic artists.
