The lights go down, the music plays and two dancers step out of the audience and onto the stage.

What follows is an hour-long emotional rollercoaster as Rendez-Vous Dance present What Songs
May Do…, an incredibly moving story about one couple’s journey through the highs and lows of a
relationship.

There is a mix of both music and silent movement during the piece, which I found very effective as it drew the audience into the story and ensured the performers held our attention throughout.

The choreography by artistic director Mathieu Geffré is performed effortlessly by the performers
throughout, who move with amazing grace through the story. Geffré’s choreography is very emotive and moves the piece along well.

The lighting design by Rachel Shipp, though simple, again adds an incredible layer to the show as it helps create the mood of the piece throughout.

Overall, What Songs May Do… is an incredible piece of dance theatre which deserves to be seen by many more people in the future.
