Lung Ha actor Kay Ann Jacobs was selected to be one of the participants in a special event at the Edinburgh International Festival: Global Conversations 2024. The day included attending a performance of Teatro La Plaza’s production of Hamlet, which featured a cast of performers with Down’s syndrome, as well as a presentation and open discussion with Chela De Ferrari, the show’s writer and director. Kay Ann shares some of her thoughts on the day below:

I feel so lucky to have been selected as 1 of only 9 participants. It was a great experience to meet different people from different arts organisations, and to hear everyone’s different perspectives on life.

I loved the way film was used in the show (especially the one with Ian McKellen!) It was very well thought-out and the set was so simple but so effective.

I enjoyed hearing the cast telling their life stories. It was nice to see the footage of them in their own houses, and how they were all friends who got on and stuck up for each other.
