Announcing our new Chair of the Board

We are delighted to announce that Duncan Hendry has been appointed Chair of the Board of Lung Ha Theatre Company.

Duncan Hendry retired in December 2019 as Chief Executive of Capital Theatres in Edinburgh where he was responsible for leading the charitable trust that managed the King’s, the Festival Theatre and The Studio. He held this post from January 2012.

He was Chief Executive of His Majesty’s Theatre and the Music Hall in Aberdeen from 1999 to 2012 and was involved in moving those venues from Council operation into a charitable trust, Aberdeen Performing Arts in 2002/3 and he was the first Chief Executive. He helped raise funds to redevelop His Majesty’s Theatre in 2004/05 and oversaw the redevelopment.  The Lemon Tree became part of APA in 2007.

He is currently a Board member of Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival and of Eden Court Theatre, Inverness. He is on the Campaign Board of the King’s Theatre – helping raise funds for the redevelopment of that theatre.

Duncan said “I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to have been appointed Chair of the Board of Lung Ha Theatre Company and I am looking forward to working with Maria, Michael, the Board and the team at Lung ha on the future development of the company.
