HEALTHY HARMONIES
Healthy Harmonies, NHS Fife’s staff choir, grew out of the conviction that singing is good for the soul. The concept was brought to life by Sharon Dick, a member of the NHS Fife chaplaincy team, and the first rehearsal took place in September 2014. An inaugural concert was held in Kirkcaldy that November under the musical direction of Stuart Watson. Since then, the choir has grown in confidence, learning new skills and making new friendships too. Healthy Harmonies is delighted to be returning to the Fringe for the third time performing a programme of popular music.
Healthy Harmonies showcased a variety of songs from musicals to popular rock and pop, including "Mr Blue Sky" and "Don't you forget about me." The choir also shared their enthusiasm for singing to a full and enthusiastic audience, which was infectious to watch.
Stuart Watson, leader and conductor, was clearly enjoying himself too. He showed his awareness of performance by getting the band to go quieter and/or louder if he felt it was necessary and his energy alone was great to watch.
Along with the choir, there were three "guest performers" including two Royal Conservatoire students and Marjory Watson who has performed in America and the Royal Albert Hall. The guest performers added to the concert with their fantastic singing and repertoire.
A good night for everyone for a great cause.
